    Korean Government Scholarship Program(KGSP) For Graduate Program

    “Admissions Guideline for the Year 2015”


    The Korean Government Scholarship Program(KGSP) under Global Korea Scholarship(GKS) is sponsored by the National Institute for International Education(NIIED) and is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students. The aim of this scholarship program is to promote international exchange in education and mutual friendship amongst the participating countries.


    The UNIST Graduate School will open its admissions for the 2015 KGSP from February 16th through March 20th, 2015.

    ※ How to look up for professors at UNIST

    Step 1.

    Log on to www.unist.ac.kr, and click on the ACADEMICS tab, shown on top of the page

    Step 2.

    On the left side of the page, you will find the schools available at UNIST. Click on the school you wish to apply for

    Step 3.

    When you click on your desired school, a page appears showing a brief introduction of the school, with the courses they offer. On top of the page, you will find three tabs (RESEARCH, PROFESSOR, and STAFF) under the contact information of the school

    Step 4.

    Click on the PROFESSOR’s tab to display the professors available in that school with their contact information


    o Master’s (01.09.2015 ~ 31.08.2018) : 1 yr. of Korean language + 2 yrs of Master’s

    o Doctoral (01.09.2015 ~ 31.08.2019): 1yr. of Korean language + 3 yrs of Doctoral


    ※ After the Korean language course, the scholarship period of degree course (2 years of master’s or 3 years of doctoral) cannot be extended beyond the designated duration.

    ※ In the case that a scholar possesses a TOPIK Level that is higher than 5, he or she is exempted from the Korean language course; the exempted period will be deducted from the total scholarship period (2 years for master’s or 3 years for doctoral).

    ※ In the case that a scholar possesses a TOPIK Level 5 or 6, he or she must be exempted from the Korean language course and must start his/her academic course of Master or Doctoral degree; the exempted period will be deducted from the total scholarship period (2 years for master’s or 3 years for doctoral).


    □ How to Apply for 2015 KGSP

    Applicants who submit applications to more than one institution will be disqualified immediately.

    Document Review March 25th ~ March 27th, 2015
    Interview March 31st ~ 6th April, 2015
    Final Result Notification by NIIED June 16th, 2015
    Entry to KOREA August 24th ~ 26th, 2015
    NIIED Orientation August 31st 2015
    Korean Language Course or Graduate Program Starting from September 1st, 2015
